It was nice to see the characters from the game before the events of it, but this story was rather boring。 At least the art was nice!

I didn't have high hopes going into this as it appears to be a prequel for a video game but Matthew Rosenberg tells a good story。 Its all about who you can trust and getting all the info before you act or react。 Lessons that work in real life。 New characters are introduced here and most are likeable especially Cere Junda。 The are was decent but unspectacular。 Overall, a solid story that surprised me。 I didn't have high hopes going into this as it appears to be a prequel for a video game but Matthew Rosenberg tells a good story。 Its all about who you can trust and getting all the info before you act or react。 Lessons that work in real life。 New characters are introduced here and most are likeable especially Cere Junda。 The are was decent but unspectacular。 Overall, a solid story that surprised me。 。。。more

I was really interested in learning more about Cere after falling in love with the game Fallen Order。 The comic was good but I've read better comics。 A lot of it was just hard to follow at times。 I was really interested in learning more about Cere after falling in love with the game Fallen Order。 The comic was good but I've read better comics。 A lot of it was just hard to follow at times。 。。。more

Enjoyed it good story to introduce the characters in the game

14 BBY。 The Imperial Inquisitor known as the Second Sister arrives on the planet Ontotho and enters a mysterious temple there。 The story then flashes back to the days of the Republic when Jedi Master Eno Cordova and Padawan Cere Junda find themselves on Ontotho, where the self-same temple is at the heart of an impending war。As a tie-in to the computer game 'Jedi Fallen Order', I was really looking forward to reading this book, having enjoyed the game immensely。 Unfortunately it turned out to be 14 BBY。 The Imperial Inquisitor known as the Second Sister arrives on the planet Ontotho and enters a mysterious temple there。 The story then flashes back to the days of the Republic when Jedi Master Eno Cordova and Padawan Cere Junda find themselves on Ontotho, where the self-same temple is at the heart of an impending war。As a tie-in to the computer game 'Jedi Fallen Order', I was really looking forward to reading this book, having enjoyed the game immensely。 Unfortunately it turned out to be a pretty big disappointment。One of the best elements of the game was the character of the Second Sister, genuinely one of the best new Star Wars antagonists of recent years, and this book starts really strongly with her going into battle alongside Imperial troops。 Unfortunately, the Second Sister's story here is purely a framing mechanism that is short and, largely, pointless。 Instead the majority of the book is taken up by the story of Cere and Master Cordova, which is sadly much less engaging。The problem with the Cere/Cordova storyline is that much of it is too-well worn territory for Jedi stories, with them caught between two sides of a conflict in which neither side can be entirely trusted (honestly, it's the plot of about half of the Jude Watson 'Jedi Apprentice' books)。 It's cliché masquerading as complexity。 It wouldn't be so bad if were really learned anything significant about these two supporting characters from the game, but that's not the case。 Even the titular dark temple, which has direct links to the plot of the game, never actually gets explored or explained。Considering my high-hopes for this story, it was a real shame that it turned out to be shallow and predictable, and frankly didn't add anything to the game it ties into。* More reviews here: https://fsfh-book-review2。webnode。com * 。。。more

Ohhh my heart。It was absolutely amazing to delve into the origins of Cere Junda。 I just loved her in Fallen Order! This run definitely has its ups and downs, and I'll admit there were a few times I was a bit bored。 But there were really great things about it too! And I really appreciate the backstory for this character。 I hope we'll see more Fallen Order comics in the future!Merged review:Ohhh my heart。It was absolutely amazing to delve into the origins of Cere Junda。 I just loved her in Fallen Ohhh my heart。It was absolutely amazing to delve into the origins of Cere Junda。 I just loved her in Fallen Order! It was an interesting story, and pretty unique and made Cere very likeable。 However, the deal with the geopolitical interests of the factions on the final planet got very confusing very quickly。 A little better than average。

A prequel to the Fallen Order video game, this sees a young Cere go on a mission with her master to planet that has one the tombs/temples from the game。 A framing story sees the Second Sister visit the same planet years later which leads into the game。 It's a decent story with good art, I just didn't find it outstanding or anything。 A prequel to the Fallen Order video game, this sees a young Cere go on a mission with her master to planet that has one the tombs/temples from the game。 A framing story sees the Second Sister visit the same planet years later which leads into the game。 It's a decent story with good art, I just didn't find it outstanding or anything。 。。。more

Decent tie-in that doesnt really expand too much on the game unfortunately。 Its an ok prequel story with a few of the game's characters, but nothing really stands out。 Kinda insignificant in the end with how it ties into the game。 Decent tie-in that doesnt really expand too much on the game unfortunately。 Its an ok prequel story with a few of the game's characters, but nothing really stands out。 Kinda insignificant in the end with how it ties into the game。 。。。more

Doesn't really cover a lot of the build up to the game。 Feels like they just designed a generic Jedi Mission based off the Jedi Apprentice/Jedi Quest series, slapped some characters from the game on it, and called it a day。 It would've been better if it was longer, and gave more background to the characters。 Doesn't really cover a lot of the build up to the game。 Feels like they just designed a generic Jedi Mission based off the Jedi Apprentice/Jedi Quest series, slapped some characters from the game on it, and called it a day。 It would've been better if it was longer, and gave more background to the characters。 。。。more

Having no knowledge of the video game that this partners with, this was a complete story taking place in the time of the prequels。 I am curious now how it fits into the video game。

Most of the SW fiction that was based on video games has been bad, among the worst books in the EU days (not too many examples in the Disney era so far)。 This one did not have the "game" sense that those bad ones did, making for an interesting story that wasn't "complete a task" or "fight a boss" like them。 Most of the SW fiction that was based on video games has been bad, among the worst books in the EU days (not too many examples in the Disney era so far)。 This one did not have the "game" sense that those bad ones did, making for an interesting story that wasn't "complete a task" or "fight a boss" like them。 。。。more

It's alright, the story is interesting enough and very nicely connects to the Jedi fallen Order game。 The main issues I had with it are the inconsistent art style and some lackluster writing。There's some nice pre-prequels Jedi order and Republic lore on show and the featured planet and its cultures is a nice addition。I wish a bit more of the Zepho temple was shown, but I guess it serves as a nice appetizer。Overall fun enough and nice to have alongside the game, but the story and characterization It's alright, the story is interesting enough and very nicely connects to the Jedi fallen Order game。 The main issues I had with it are the inconsistent art style and some lackluster writing。There's some nice pre-prequels Jedi order and Republic lore on show and the featured planet and its cultures is a nice addition。I wish a bit more of the Zepho temple was shown, but I guess it serves as a nice appetizer。Overall fun enough and nice to have alongside the game, but the story and characterization featured in there are way better than the ones in this comic。 。。。more

though she's more than willing to save Cal's life, and send him out to fight the good fight, she takes a long while to open up to him, and to trust herself out in the field herself。Something we don't really see in the game is what kind of Jedi Master Cere was, and we still don't get that in Dark Temple, as she's still an apprentice。 But this story really does shed some light on what kind of Jedi she was, and even if we never see those blanks fully filled in, we can now make some pretty informed speculation。So。。。 Padawan Cere is pretty hot-headed, stubborn, and rash。 It could be because of her that the Jedi Council is so unwilling to trust Anakin, who exhibits many of the same impulsive traits and tendencies toward quick, maybe ill-advised action。 Cere is willing to fight the Trandoshans on a diplomatic mission at the very start of the comic, and we only see things spiral from there。 Her willingness to fight the Fylari, demand the arrest of Daa, and so on reveals either great impatience, or impossibly strong instincts。All that being said, and as the Jedi Council states at the end of the comic, Cere's instincts do save lives, and wind up uncovering a more unsettling plot than the Republic had been aware of。Although it seems a bit strange to me for her to be Knighted at the end of this particular story, I think that her power and impulse to fight leads in nicely to her real struggles with the dark side after Trilla's turn, so I appreciate that。 And the Council's willingness to fight, too, in this instance, and their rewarding Cere, also foreshadows their decisions during The Clone Wars。We learn a bit about Master Cordova in Dark Temple as well, and again, it isn't necessarily flattering。 He doesn't seem to know quite how to balance being a scholar and being a warrior, which is evocative to me of Qui-Gon in a sense, in how he wants to follow his own path as a Master, and also of Reath Silas, a High Republic Padawan who doesn't want to fight at all。 It's an interesting peek into the variety of Jedi at the Temple, and I'd like to see more of that during the Prequel era (though the High Republic is absolutely scratching that itch!)。I will say I quite liked the Fylari protocol droid, En-Threelo。 He seemed about halfway between Threepio and Triple Zero, and that's a lot of fun。 It's too bad he won't appear anyplace else。The Fylari's betrayal was a real surprise in this story, but。。。 I wasn't very invested in any of those characters so it was not a huge deal。 This is also true of the Zeffo temple; I thought for sure we would learn a little bit more about that temple, seeing as it is kind of the tile of the mini-series。 Of course we weren't going to learn a TON, because we know from the game that Cordova spends years traveling the galaxy, trying to discover more about the Zeffo。I didn't care for the frame narrative with the Second Sister。 It didn't really need to be included at all; I would have preferred it be all at the end rather than spread across all five issues, as it effectively amounts to "Second Sister tracks down a clue that leads her to Bogano," which provides no deeper insight into anything in the game, and must mean nothing to readers who have not played it。Ball in all, this felt a bit insubstantial。 It's got some amazing artwork, but as often as not the action is too busy, however beautiful it may be。 And the story was fine, with some nice twists and turns, but I wasn't very invested in any of it beyond how it might affect Cere's character, and at that, her arc was also。。。 fine。If you're a completist, this isn't a slog, or if you're a big Fallen Order fan this is a little more time with a couple of those characters。 But if you haven't played the game I would absolutely skip this one; it isn't terribly compelling on its own。 。。。more

Dark Temple is a fairly by-the-numbers introduction to the Jedi: Fallen Order video game, which I haven't played。 We're introduced to the planet Ontotho and the Jedi Ceres Junda, which presumably both play a role in the game。 Junda is on Ontotho to prevent a conflict from escalating, but her complete inability to use diplomacy results in her only creating further conflict。 It's not exactly the best showing for a Jedi - nice to see them struggle once in a while。Ontotho also hosts mysterious energ Dark Temple is a fairly by-the-numbers introduction to the Jedi: Fallen Order video game, which I haven't played。 We're introduced to the planet Ontotho and the Jedi Ceres Junda, which presumably both play a role in the game。 Junda is on Ontotho to prevent a conflict from escalating, but her complete inability to use diplomacy results in her only creating further conflict。 It's not exactly the best showing for a Jedi - nice to see them struggle once in a while。Ontotho also hosts mysterious energy spheres, which are unexplained in Dark Temple and no doubt play a role in Jedi: Fallen Order。 The twisty, backstabbing-filled plot of Dark Temple is fun and fine, but it feels like a random one-shot rather than a world-building introduction to a big, exciting video game。 Maybe that's fine? It works as a standalone read, though I'm certainly not rushing to the Steam store to purchase my game。 。。。more
